Who: Tim Speedle (possible Gil Grissom)
Where: Las Vegas Crime Lab
When: Morning after shift (4 weeks after Gil/Greg/Speed threesome) Sofia (12 weeks pregnant)

Today was the big day. Sofia's appointment with the OBGYN to hear the baby's heart beat. All of this still seemed a fantasy. Not being able to see or feel the baby but hearing its tiny heartbeat was going to hit home. She was having a baby. Going to be a mother. Sure her body was showing changes. Her breast were changing in color and growing at a rapid pace. Her belly was expanding and it was no longer easy to hide the bulge pooching out under her shirt. Face was filling out with chubbier cheeks. Skin was even taking on a mysterious glow. Not to mention she was having trouble with fatigue and morning sickness in spurts still. Keeping things secret was going to be hard soon.

Grabbing her things out of her locker, she made her way to the break room where Tim was supposed to be waiting to attend the visit with her. She invited Gil but had not idea with his busy schedule of late if he could even find time to meet them. The offer was out there in any case. She didn't want him to be excluded since the 50/50 chance still existed he could be the father.

Rounding the corner, she peered in the glass window spotting Tim hovering over the coffee machine finishing off a cup. He was crumpling the paper in his hand making her flash back to the first time they met. Things had been a crazy ride since he came crashing in her life.

"Hey."

Soft voice called to him followed by a yawn.

"You ready?"

She had no idea why she was so nervous. All she cared was the baby was going to be healthy. It was like she had the drops. Even though they only had an hour to get to the doctors, she had to sit for a second and catch her breath and stop the nausea rising. Maybe it was the coffee smell or the sight of the donuts on the table.

Who: Tim Speedle and Gil Grissom
When: Six Weeks after the threesome at Sofia's condo.
Where: Crime Scene/Residence in Henderson Subdivision

Sofia stood outside the second floor bathroom calling in C.S.I. to the gruesome scene laid out before her. In the master bathroom blood spattered over every inch of the blindingly white tiled surfaces. Spray, smears, streaks, hand prints of blood. She peered in touching nothing. Larry Baxter lay jammed between the tub and sink, head resting against the toilet. Wounds scattered the victims body leading her to conclude brutal stabbing as the cause of death at this point.

The smell was overwhelming, metal taste tinged her mouth, burned her nostrils making her step back. Usually scents didn't phase her but the past week and a half had proved tough on her stomach. She was starting to wonder if she had some kind of flu going around. A couple of guys had been ill at the department recently. Leaning her body against the cool wall just opposite the horrendous scene, she closed her eyes and began sucking in deep breaths trying to center herself until someone arrived to take over the processing.

Who: Naomi
When: Day after the blow up at Calleigh's
Where: Phone call (for now)

Hum drum paperwork. She stared at the pile of forms she had been cranking out all night. Putting her signature on the last one, she huffed out a huge breath relaxing back in her chair kicking her feet out in front of her. A pang of guilt keep nagging at her brain as she worked diligently. She had acted poorly when she visited Cal to return her key scaring the life out of Naomi plus making a fool out of herself. Naomi deserved an apology, she just hoped she would accept. They did have to work together, she didn't want things to remain awkward.

Fingering her cell phone, opening then closing it several times, she finally pushed the detective's number putting the speaker up to her ear. Ring, Ring, Ring, wait wait wait. She hoped she would get a human voice and not voice mail.

Who: Calleigh
When: Wednesday night after shift. (Prior to their Friday break up.)
Where: Department parking structure.

Another bad night. The most extreme of circumstances. She rubbed the back of her neck bending it listening to the cracking of her tense muscles and aching bones. An extra set of footsteps walking behind her made her stop, tense, hand moving instinctively to the gun nestled on her hip. She didn't turn at first, listening, still moving but once near her car she spun around. Calleigh was leaving work just like her. She had a file folder open reading contently not watching where she was going sure to be disastrous.

"You should know better than to allow yourself to be in a vulnerable state. You could get hit by a car or trip."

Sofia was kicked back against the door of the car, legs crossed in front of her hands in her pocket. Oh, Cal had her heart all right. And her soul. They respected each other. They complemented each other. If only her stubborn rebel side would behave, let her commit. Cal's arms were the safest place in the world, always had been from the first time the sexy woman had spontaneously enveloped her in a hug. No, she couldn't do this to Cal. She just had to let her go...eventually.

Who: Calleigh
When: Immediately after Fashionistas show at The Mirage
Where: Sofia's Condo

The short ride back to Sofia's condo was filled with intensity. he vibe of uneasiness hung in the air thick like a fog. Maybe once she was back in her safe zone at home she would shake the odd mood. She couldn't get any luckier. The sexy woman next to her was ready and willing to share a night of sweet ecstasy. No questions asked just take her anywhere she wished. Why was she feeling so damn guilty. It wasn't like she was using her to fill sexual needs.

Once inside, she tossed her keys across the kitchen counter listening to them skid to halt inches from the edge. She was teetering on a ledge much the same. One part of her was ready to ravish Cal, the other was cautious wanting to go extremely slow.

"Hungry? Need a drink?"

She kicked off the high heeled boots tossing them into her open bedroom door.

Who: Calleigh
Where: Sofia's Condo
When: Day After Sofia visited Cal's apartment.

Everyday Sofia woke up she saw improvement in her movement around the surgery area. She was starting to have high hopes she might return to work within the next week. Desk work was better than day in day out staring at the different rooms in her condo. Just having showered and dressed she felt energized ready for the brilliant sunny day dawning outside. Leaning on her kitchen counter, she lifted each leg stretching her muscles out preparing for the arrival of Cal for the walk they had planned the day before.

The apple staring at her from the fruit bowl on the counter looked appetizing so she snatched it up bringing it to her lips. As she took a bite, juice ran over her lip dripping down her chin onto the counter. Grumbling she grabbed a paper towel off the holder swiping her mess up. Mid second bite, she heard the key turn in her lock making her pull the apple from her mouth. Cal. Her hunger pangs faded quickly replaced by nerves prompting her to throw the apple directly into the trash. Standing planted to the spot in the kitchen her eyes fixated on the door waiting for her guest to enter.

Who: Calleigh
When: After her confession and drunken stupor.
Where: Her condo (phone for now)

Sofia's was paying dearly for her maddening drinking binge. Her head had the sensation of being as big as a balloon ready to pop. She could imagine her brain matter splattered all over her cream living room walls. The headline of her gruesome death splashed across the front page when they found her days later alone in her condo.

No doubt about it, she was going out of her mind. Shaking her head to rid of the unusual thoughts, she cleaned herself up, ate, then got the house back in order. Cal had arrived unannounced at the melt down point making her look like a total asshole. She had single handedly destroyed Cal's impression of her in a blink of an eye. It was still hard for her to say she cheated. The two of them had not discussed solely seeing one another. Cal had just as much freedom to pursue other people if she chose. Now that Cal had blown all out of proportion, the cold hard truth of the seriousness spun her for a loop. She wanted to commit to Sofia exclusively. Or at least that was the impression she was forming the more she examined the past week.

There was much to discuss but Sofia needed time to look at every aspect, detail of her life and Cal's before she could come to any decision. For now the least she could do was call and apologize for acting like a maniac. She spun her phone around on the kitchen counter more times than she could count until she got the nerve up to pick up the phone and call. The worst she would do is hang up.

Dialing the number, the phone rang...rang...rang...until a exhausted voice answered softly.

"Cal, before you hang up on me. I just called to tell you I was way out of line. I am sorry I acted crazy."

Who: David Hodges
When: Immediately after leaving Warrick's party
Where: Sofia's condo

"Yes!"

She mimicked his enthusiastic response taking his wrist into her hand making him flip over his palm. Stealing a pen from his pocket, she scribbled her address on his palm along with her number.

"Race you."

She scampered off his lap pulling her keys out of her pocket. She knew he would be fast on her heels, the thrill of what was to come pushing adrenaline through them both. The side affects were more intoxicating than the liquor they both had consumed earlier.

Fifteen minutes later they were both standing in the bedroom of her condo. Everything from the Queen-size bed to the windows to the chairs and pillows was draped, upholstered or covered in expensive fabrics and trimmed in black. In contrast, the walls were painted a light caramel color which took on a deep golden hue in the warm evening light. The artwork adorning the walls was simple black and white photography edged with large white mats and thin wooden frames. Three of them hung in a row, like soldiers above the mahogany headboard.

“What an amazing view."

She looked at him then. He hadn’t moved his eyes still focused on her, and the warmth she saw in them affected her more deeply than the most beautiful sunset in the world ever could have. The heat in his eyes drew her to him as if she had no will of her own. She started toward him, slowly, hesitantly, wanting to be near him, yet almost afraid to reach her destination.

When she stood in front of him, she felt surprisingly shy, like a girl about to be kissed for the first time by the boy of her dreams. David... The man of my dreams… Could those dreams be finally coming true? The fleeting thought and the anticipation of it all gave her the wings of courage, or was it boldness, she needed. She circled his wrists with her hands, then let them run freely up to his shoulders, the soft cotton of his shirt sliding easily beneath her palms, tickling them. When she reached his shoulders, she started a journey back down over his chest, feeling the strong steady beat of his heart under a surprisingly muscular chest, and she continued down to his waist where she stopped, not daring to go lower.

Who: Calleigh
When: Second Day After Surgery/Coming home.
Where: Sofia's condo.

Precisely on time, Cal arrived to pick up Sofia at the entrance of the Desert Palms Hospital. Doping her up with a heavy dose of morphine before she was wheeled out made the car ride home uneventful. She sat in the passenger seat, her head moving unstable like a bobble head doll. A bit of drool escaped the side of her open mouth. When reality entered her world, she was inside her condo laying in bed snug as a bug in a rug.

The shades were drawn protecting her eyes from the bright Vegas midday sun. Her house was so quiet you could have heard a mouse stir. Rubbing her eyes, she rolled over on her side relishing in the familiar smell of the laundry detergent on her sheets. Her dreams had always been vivid but with the additional help of a drug fogged mind things seemed turned up a notch. She was reliving the moment in the hospital bathroom half expecting Cal to be next to her when her eyes shot open. Though rare, it had been a long while since she woke up to a wet dream, that glorious throbbing between her legs.

Stretching out like a cat, she closed her eyes snaking her hands under the cover to touch between her legs to reawaken the ache. She increased the intensity of the strokes against her sensitive bud until her body overloaded making her gasp out in pleasure. Sleep washed back over her body.

First Date [November 25, 2006 9:52pm]
[ mood | loved ]

Who: Calleigh
When: Evening/Called in to work after getting sick when leaving morning shift.
Where: Carnival on the streets of Vegas

Calleigh played into any idea Sofia threw her direction. Before leaving her apartment she had made her wear a blindfold so she could keep where she was taking her for their first date a surprise. It wasn't without complaint but coaxing her with kisses and syrupy words did the trick.

The car came to a halt in a parking spot just outside a small carnival that went 24/7 on the main strip. It was one of Sofia's favorite places to come to feel like a kid again. One of her co-workers had turned her on to the location when she joined the force as a detective.

"Where here."

She lead her out of the car bouncing like she was walking on clouds. Smells of cotton candy and popcorn filled the air. People having a good time on rides could be heard screaming or laughing mixed with the loud circus like music.

"Have any idea where we are?"

She worked on loosening the blind fold hoping Cal would like her idea for a night of fun.

Where: Sofia's Desk at the LAPD Department
When: After leaving the morgue.

Sofia hoped stomping out of the morgue after her discussion with the new M.E., girlfriend stealer, would make her feel better. Instead it just elevated her blood pressure making her huff and puff worse. At least she had an excuse to get out of the department to make a field trip to Lady Heather Kessler's house. Maybe she could bring some positive into someone else's world. Her personal life continued to careen downhill like an out of control snowball.

Making her way inside the area that contained several carbon copy cubicles with desks, she found her home away from home. Her eyes grew wide when she spotted a colorful trio of roses laying on her desk with attached notes. Hordes of giggles could be heard behind her as her co-workers mocked playfully.

"Curtis is in love, Curtis has a boyfriend."

She rolled her eyes before turning to face the crowd of male chauvinist behind her. It sucked being the only female in a room of testosterone. She could hold her own.

"At least I don't live with my mother." She aimed grouchily at several of the younger cops.

Silence fell through the room as the men took that as PMS or a bad day when the blond was ripe with words.

Who would have send me flowers? She let her body collapse in the rolling black computer chair. She could feel the eyes staring her direction. Making a callus glare in their direction the guys turned their attention back to working.

Cautiously she opened the first card reading the sentiment inside. A hard lump of guilt began rising in her throat.

A yellow rose stands for regret. This is me saying 'I'm sorry'.. Sorrow for the cruel actions and words she spouted to Cal made her hang her head.

She continued peeling open the second card.

A lavender rose stands for love at first sight. This is me saying, 'you enchant me'.

How did she enchant Cal when she was acting like such a friggin' jerk.

Opening the final card, she bit back the bile rising in her throat as her stomach sickly turned. Tears were stinging the rims of her eyes.

A yellow rose also stands for new beginnings. This is me saying 'Let's start over'.

Sofia wanted to start over again but she was scared of being hurt. She felt like she was stuck in quicksand. One end pulling her under if she let go of the best thing to happen to her in years, the other saving her if she chose to step out on a limb to take another chance.

Cal had made an effort, she could show her the same courtesy. Picking up her phone, she sent a text message to her simply stating "Truce."

Who: Calleigh
Where: Sofia's bedroom
When: Now

Sofia stepped out of the tub, wrapping herself in a fluffy white towel. As Calleigh stood up, she moved over helping her to do the same. She held her hand gingerly helping her get out.

"I do have to say the massage is tempting. I have some oils. Let me step into the kitchen so I can warm them up in the microwave. Make yourself comfortable in the bed. I just put fresh sheets on for us."

She could hear the sound of Calleigh's bare feet padding around her bedroom. It was nice not being alone. Her mind was lulling over the words uttered while they got out of the bath. Maybe things were not going as certain as Sofia thought. True, being bisexual was new for her, but she had been curious about a same sex relationship for a long time. It was sounding like this possibility had never crossed Calleigh's mind before.

Holding the bottle in her grip, she came back in the bedroom.

"We can just get some rest if you want, you don't have to do this for me."

For some reason she felt gun shy about this whole situation now.

Sofia stood in front of her bathroom mirror washing her face first before stepping into the hot steamy shower. She could see the reflection of the woman whom had set her soul on fire a short time before sleeping soundly curled up like a kitten on her bed. It still seemed unreal that she met Calleigh only hours ago at Warrick's party and now seduced her. Her skin still tingled thinking about how natural it felt merging their bodies and spirits in one.

Shivering with pleasure, she slid open the glass shower door stepping inside letting the pulsating water thrash against her skin. Closing her eyes, she let the hot water relax her muscles while her hand reached for the lavender scented bar of soap on the ledge. Taking her time, she massaged the soap into her skin imagining instead it was Calleigh's hands touching, teasing her into oblivion. Somehow the concept was not the same. Lathering her hair up with shampoo, she finished off the rest of her shower quickly then turned off the water. Grabbing a white terry cloth robe from a hook near the shower, she put it on before stepping out. She took a moment to brush out her hair, then quietly exited the bathroom. Calleigh was still sleeping like an angel. Sofia stomach was rumbling considering the meal she attempted to fix earlier got burned.

Making her way out of the bedroom, she closed the door softly behind her then headed for the kitchen. She cleaned up the mess in the sink then sat the same skillet back on the stove to take a stab at fixing another omelet. The coffee was still fresh all she had to do was reheat it in the microwave. Retrieving fresh ingredients from the fridge, she started humming while preparing herself a hearty meal.

Changes. [June 26, 2006 5:13pm]
[ mood | excited ]

In the bay window of her condo, Sofia sat with her knees tucked against her chest. Sipping on a cool glass of tea, she watched as dusk began to settle down over the city that never sleeps. Taking in a deep cleansing breathe, she started to reflect over the many changes that had occurred in her life over the past year.

It's not that she minded being a Crime Scene Investigator. The detail oriented side of her loved the job. Through hard work and long hours, she had quickly climbed her way to the top. To have Ecklie Conrad demote her because she wouldn't kiss his ass was not acceptable. She was not the type of person to just settle. Even though Gil Grissom had made an effort to make her feel part of the team, she knew there were other avenues she could pursue and make a difference in her life and others.

When the opportunity arose for her to take a position on a task force , she jumped at the chance. She knew this meant transferring to a different department in Boulder City, Nevada but the 23 mile drive was of no concern to her. She knew she would miss somethings around the L.V.P.D. lab but the chance at a new exciting career pushed her forward. She knew dwelling on he past changed nothing. As her mother and father always told her "Carpe Diem, Seize The Day"!

She was rather surprised one afternoon when she received a call from Jim Brass. He wanted to inform her a detective position had opened up in the L.V.P.D. department. She had come to respect him and the chance to return to her old stomping ground excited her beyond words. She quickly accepted the interview and soon found herself employed by the city of Vegas once again.

Finishing off the last sip of her tea, she got up and placed the glass in the kitchen sink. She only had a few hours left before she began her first shift as Detective Sofia Curtis. She knew Brass would be at her side tonight, but she was anxious about seeing her comrades from the lab. Walking into her bedroom, she smiled proudly at the crisp new uniform hanging on her closet door. She picked the badge up from the table running her fingers over the shiny brass metal. Even though she wasn't a Captain yet, she knew her mother was proud she had chosen to go into law enforcement.

The chime of the clock hanging above her bed caught her attention. Shaking off the nerves rising up in her body, she grabbed her uniform and started getting ready for the adventures of the night ahead.
